Port desciption

Antwerp is the second port of Europe and the fourth of the world. In 2005 the port treated more than 160 million tonnes of maritime trade. Annually, there are 15 000 ships and further inland to more than 64 000. More than 140 000 people earn in one way or another their bread through the Scheldt Harbor.

The port of Antwerp is indispensable for the import and export of the European Union and hub of many activities worldwide. Especially the container traffic is booming, with an annual increase of ten to fifteen percent. Containers represent more than four tenths of maritime traffic in Antwerp.

In the Haven House, the home port of Antwerp Port Authority, you will find a library on port economy and transport. The library is working on and after appointment to visit continuously from 9-16 hours.
